The Big Lebowski
USA, 1997 | Length: 117min | FSK: 12 | Director: Joel & Ethan Coen Cast: Jeff Bridges, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, John Goodman

Loaded with all the Coen brothers' (»Fargo«, »O Brother Where Art Thou«) trademark wit and flair, this stylish and wickedly funny black comedy pivots around a case of mistaken identity complicated by extortion, double-crosses, deception, embezzlement, sex, pot, and gallons of White Russians. Two mobsters break into the apartment of Jeff Lebowski (Bridges) in the errant belief that they are accosting a millionaire - not the laid-back, unemployed, stuck-in-the-'70s Jeff Lebowski who calls himself 'the Dude.' Chaos and one hilarious scene after the other ensue through the complex kidnapping plot that follows as the Dude seeks restitution for his rug which was ruined by the two mobsters. With the Coens' crazy offbeat humor and some of the funniest characters ever commited to film, this is one of the funniest, most absurd, and certainly coolest cult films ever made.
